Furniture Brands International
Furniture Brands International (FBI) was a publicly-traded company listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) that operated in the home furnishings industry. The company's corporate headquarters were located in St. Louis, Missouri.
FBI was a leading designer, manufacturer, and retailer of a wide range of home furniture products, including upholstered furniture, casegoods, leather furniture, and bedroom furniture. Its portfolio of brands included some of the most well-known and respected names in the furniture industry, such as Lane, Broyhill, Thomasville, Drexel Heritage, and Henredon.
The company's products were sold through a variety of channels, including company-owned retail stores, franchise stores, and independent retailers. FBI also operated an e-commerce platform that allowed customers to purchase its products online.
Furniture Brands International was founded in 1911 and grew to become one of the largest furniture companies in the world. However, the company faced significant challenges in the 21st century, including increased competition from low-cost overseas manufacturers and a decline in demand for furniture due to the housing market crash in 2008.
In 2013, FBI filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, and its assets were acquired by a group of investors led by Oaktree Capital Management. After the acquisition, the company was renamed Heritage Home Group.
Today, Heritage Home Group continues to operate some of the legacy brands of Furniture Brands International, including Thomasville, Broyhill, and Lane. However, the company is no longer publicly traded, and its stock is no longer available for trading on the NYSE.
